Wow!

I have been thinking a lot about something lately. Single people. For those who don't know, I did not get married until I was 27 (I was 26, but turned 27 16 days later) which by Baptist standards is ancient! The years before I got married were both the most difficult and some of the best years of my life! I say the best because I got to do so many things that I don't get to do now, like travel to see my friends whenever I want to, work crazy hours in retail, work in many different cities. I also say the best because of what I learned about myself, how to talk to people, see things from their perspective, how to listen, how to cherish the things I hold dear. Difficult because of all the married people around me (there were a few who were ok) who too often took pity on me because I was single. I literally had someone ask if I was dating anyone say, "ah, that's too bad" to me. Crazy! As if I wasn't a whole person without being married and that I would be less happy because I wasn't married. The biggest lesson I learned was that I needed to become complete in God. I didn't need a man to complete me at all, but now Chris compliments me in the very best ways! He is the best! I am so glad worked our story the way he did!

All this is to really post something my sister Amy wrote me this last week. She is single, and while she would love the "icing" she loves her God and knows He has her exactly where He wants her! She is an amazing woman and I want to share her wisdom. Here is an excerpt from the email she sent me!

...No one can say that everyone will get married, because God is in control and may not want them to get married. So instead of getting their hopes up, why not focus on helping them cultivate happiness in an area where they are guaranteed happiness...obedience to God. 4 simple rules for singles:

1. Don't wait to get married - Travel, get your degree, buy that house, have a social life.

2. Build your relationship with God.

3. Prepare for the future - Grow in your career, save your money, make lifelong friends.

4. Stop assuming that your singleness is a product of your inadequacies in life. This should be the recipe for a "chocolate cake life" IF you get married in the process, consider it icing NOT the flour!

Thanks Ame! You are awesome! I love you! I think we can all learn from this how to pray for single people! They have so much to contribute if we would just let them be who God wants them to be!

Jack-O-Lantern and a Brother-in-Law

Last night, while Chris was at play practice Wyatt and I carved a pumpkin. We meant to do it this weekend, but completely forgot. Wyatt and I had a good time anyway. He wasn't so sure at first about all of the slimy guts, but after I put his hands in it, his favorite thing to do was to throw it on the floor. I carved quick and got us cleaned up. Our weekend

Well we had a really nice weekend. Friday night was fun at the Butler's! We had a really great time, another couple from church was there that we didn't know very well so it was nice getting to know some new people. The boys went out to the garage and did boy stuff and we stayed in and talked! The night was topped off by me going to the car and realizing that I had left the sunroof all the way open. It had rained....quite a bit! I hope it doesn't smell! I've left the windows open anytime its in the garage! Its dried out pretty well.

Saturday Chris had to go work on the set for a little while so Wyatt and I hung out. He's such a riot. I love watching him learn to do so many new things! Chris got home about 2:00 and when Wyatt woke up they got to spend some quality time together! They have so much fun together! Sunday we had to be at church early for choir again, but it wasn't hard getting up b/c Wyatt was wide awake at 6am! Thanks buddy! We spent the rest of the day just hanging out as a family. (And watching the Red Sox win the world series!!!!) We wanted to get in some good quality family time before the play really gets crazy! I am so thankful for the time to start the week. Chris will be gone Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until 9pm so Wyatt won't get to see him much, poor kid. Well here are some videos of Wyatt we took over the weekend. The first is him being a climbing fool! Sorry its crooked, but I don't know how to rotate it. I can rotate it on facebook, so if you're my friend look it up, its easier to watch. I just need to remember in the future to take the videos the other way. The second is Wyatt dancing in his room. I think I missed the best of it that night, but the card was full. It too is crooked, so sorry.

I love in this video you can see him trying to jump. He throws his hands up in the air and kind of goes up on his toes. Hilarious!

Why does it have to come off so slowly!

Well here is my weight loss progress. 1 pound, 1 measly pound. I know your not really supposed to lose it quickly, but I get discouraged with how slow it goes. Its ok, I didn't really change all that much (which I should have) but I did walk 3 days and made sure to get down on the floor with Wyatt and play, especially on the days I don't work out . I would really like to get running, I really enjoy that, but with our schedules, it doesn't work out right now. So, I'll take to walking in the mall. My green pants are hanging up in my closet (facing out) as a reminder that I need to keep working! Thanks to everyone for the encouragement! Here are my commitments for the week. I want to stick to my point with Weight Watchers everyday! Work out 4 times this week! We'll see what that does for me this next week. Commitment is the key! I know that I just have to put my mind to it and it will get done!

Cleaning House

I am very motivated right now. I am cleaning my house! Kitchen is all done except the floor b/c Wyatt will walk on it when its wet. Spare room is almost done, which is why I am blogging b/c that is where the computer is. I cleaned out the closet in here and it is so much more organized now! Yea! I can only stand unorganization to a point. Side note, Wyatt is dancing on the bed to Justin Timberlake right now, so cute! I am excited, we are going over to Beccah and Michael's tonight. We haven't seen them in a while, it will be nice! Well, I better get back to cleaning! Love to all!

Well said Wyatt!

Tired, very tired

Just when I think that I may be ready for another baby Wyatt stays up for a ridiculous amount of time in the middle of the night. Last night he was up from 1:11 until 3:25. He would not lay back down and go to sleep. I tried to let him cry it out, but Chris had to get up at 5:45am today and I didn't want Wyatt to keep waking him up. I tried rocking him and just when I would think he was asleep he would sit up and say "Da Da" or he would act asleep and when I would lay him down he would start screaming. I was fairly certain that nothing was wrong, but he was just being a pain. Finally at 3:25 I brought him into our bed, minutes later he curled up in a little ball under the covers and went to sleep. I have no idea what was keeping him up but needless to say I did not sleep well. He then woke up at 6:45. It was great fun :(

Anyway, I was still good and went walking in the mall. We did a little over 1.8 miles. I went walking with my friend Laura. It was nice walking with someone. I also walked yesterday 2.4 mi. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and see if I've lost anything, we'll see. It feels good to be doing something.

Please pray for Chris, the play isn't going the greatest. The kids aren't remembering their lines and they are not staying focused at all! He is frustrated and scared that they are going to make fools of themselves. Pray that he will have patience and that the kids will begin to take a turn so that this production will be great! Also pray for our family, we won't get to see Chris much these next 2 weeks. I think its going to be pretty hard on Wyatt, he LOVES his daddy right now and has a hard time going to sleep if Chris doesn't put him down. Chris and practice next week until 8 at night and the next week til 10 at night. Its going to be rough! I hate when he's gone this much! Homesickness has a tendency to kick in big time!

The last few days

Well, I haven't blogged in a few days because I don't have a fast internet connection and it won't upload any pictures. I don't want to have too many blogs with out pictures. Well, we had a good weekend. It wasn't crazy busy which was a nice change. On Friday night we went over the the Yoder's for dinner. Another couple from our church was there and we had great time playing cards and eating a great meal! Thanks Kelly! Saturday Chris had play practice in the morning so Wyatt and I just hung out. After nap time we went to buy pumpkins to make our home feel more like fall! I have some pictures, but I took them with my good camera so I have to get them developed. I have a couple taken with the digital, but they are not as good. Sunday was church day, we had nursery in the morning and that was a bit exhausting! We had some difficult children. Home, naps and then watch the start of the Eagles game. We are not having good luck with our football teams this year. Over all it was a nice weekend. I feel rested and ready for a new week! The Red Sox are losing and hopefully so am I!

Well, I am just sitting here getting ready for bed. Chris is out watching the Red Sox lose, he even tried a rally cap last night but it didn't work. (he blamed it on me b/c I brought him the wrong color hat :) ) I was just checking some things before I go and read myself off to sleep and thought I would post a blog of really nothing.

I took Wyatt shopping today. My wonderful sister Katie sent me a gift card to Old Navy and I wanted to spend it! Here's my dilemma, ever since having Wyatt I have "struggled" losing the weight. I say "struggled" because I have been too terrible motivated to stay with something consistantly. Every day I tell myself I'll do better and every day I fail, I am so discouraged with myself. Maybe I'll use this blog as my accountability partner. There is a shortage of those here in Elkhart, everyone here has babies and loses all their weight practically the next week. Its disusting really! My one would be partner is now pregnant so she can't go on a weight loss journey with me. So here is my goal. I want to lose weight and get back into shape. I would like to lose a considerable amount of weight, but more importantly to me, get back into all my clothes. I have bins in the basement that ever since having Wyatt I cannot wear any of them. I have a pair of green pants that I loved and I want to wear again. I now carry my weight in different places so I don't know how much I will have to lose to get back into them but that's my goal. I will try to post weigh in's every week. So here's to my journey! Wish me luck!

Pictures of my "3 Year Old"

Ok, here are finally some pictures of Wyatt's new haircut. I am going through some serious hair withdrawl on my little boy. Mostly because he looks so old now. Theses pictures were taken after we went to a volleyball game at ECA, Wyatt has got some team spirit. After taking the picture I realized that my baby all the sudden looked 3 years old.

I absolutly love this picture, he looks so sweet, and less like a 3 year old.

Chris took this picture, he was playing with Wyatt one day while I was gone and Wyatt discovered that he could get inside his lego wagon. They love playing this new game together, Wyatt will climb in and look at Chris and make a car noise.

Writing More

This post is for Katie, my most faithful blog checker! :)

I really was going to post anyway, but I thought I would dedicate this one. Well, my face isn't as swollen anymore! Yea! Because is was really starting to get annoying. I am very tired today though because my son woke up at 11:30pm last night and did not got back to sleep until 1:45am. Needless to say did not go to bed until 2am, which worked really well for the required 6:30 wake up time so we could get to church on time, so we could sing on the praise team. What a morning. Just as we were getting ready to walk out the door I thought, "I wonder what that smell is" Thanks Wyatt. Daddy changed his diaper an off we were now running late! (side note, this does not speak for Chris' diaper changing abilities, he does a great job, love you babe!) We got to church late obviously, which wasn't a big deal b/c we were there 40 min early b/c of praise team. The first service was all right. Music wasn't really gelling but it worked. The second service was amazing. The musicians all did great and the congregation was really worshipping. We were feeding off of them and they off of us. I love these worship times, our Lord is amazing and I am so thankful He gave me a voice to use for Him.

So then we came home to take naps, mine was cut short by my son banging his shoe on the toilet seat in the bathroom attached to our bedroom. I will not go into the rest of the day b/c it wasn't really all that great. Except for one story, only people who are closest to me will really find this funny, and some of you may be offended, so if you are easily offended, please stop reading now and have a great day! For the rest of you....

Some of you know that I have a favorite swear word.....well b/c Wyatt isn't really to much into repeating it occasionally, very occasionally, I will see if he will repeat it. Tonight was one of those nights. I said Wyatt can you say "Sh$&", my oh so wise son shook his head back and forth in a very loving humble way. His father then asked for a "High Five" Wyatt walked over to oblige him and then looked at me and said "Bibbo" which is his word for Bible. My son is already admonishing my sinful ways! I hope this was as funny reading as is was when it happened. Side note, I really don't want my son to say "Sh^*" so the tempting to say it will cease from this point forward, I will leave the teaching of the swearwords to his English teacher Aunt.

Swollen Face

I feel terrible today. Yesterday I noticed the side of my face hurting in my jaw. Not a terribly weird experience except that it kept getting worse. By lunchtime I noticed that my glands on that side of my face were all swollen, to the point where my face looks all swollen. I have had this happen one other time before and it lasted for days. It hurts really bad, thank goodness for ibuprofen. It makes me kind of cranky so pray for my husband and my son. And for me that I have patience with them.

First Blog

I've been contemplating for a while wether or not to start a blog or not. Well obviously I decided to do it. Not because I feel I have anything important to say but because I like to read other people's blogs and really feel a connection with them even though they don't know it. I have never been a writer so it may be choppy at times. Mostly I want a place to keep my beloved family memebers in touch with my life. They all live so far away and I miss them dearly! Sometimes it's a little overwhelming!

So here's what's going on the life of the Morris family. I cut Wyatt's hair this past week. He had such cute hair and I cut it all off. I didn't mean to make it as short as it turned out, the clipper guard wasn't as long as I thought. I miss his hair, but he looks so adorable! You can see his eyes so much clearer! I will try to post a photo soon. Chris is working at a Christian School here in Elkhart and he is liking it for the most part. Teaching can have its ups and downs. We are way to busy as a family, but God is at work. Chris is directing the school play so that keeps him busy and it seems to be going really well. Work for me is going well, but my boss just resigned and its made me a little sad. God sent this job my way and I am really going to miss working with him. Wyatt is 14 mos old and doing so great! What a blessing he has been to our lives. We thank God for him everyday.
