5 months

Well, hello there blog, I had forgotten I had you :)

Crazy life around here. I should do a day in the life someday, then you will have a small glimpse into my crazy world.

We're growing around here!  The babies are 5 1/2 months!  Holy Cow!  The days may take forever around here but the weeks and months are flying!  I still have many many days of being very overwhelmed but its getting better!  God has really been getting me through!  Just when I think I can't take it any more He quiets one baby or sends someone along to help!  I really could not be doing this without Him!

At the babies 4 mo appointment (which was the at the end of April, so they were closer to 5mo then 4) Caleb was 16.8 lbs, which is actually only the 75%, surprising He was 26 1/2in long (90%).  Emmerson was 12lbs 4oz, which is in the 10% (I think) Crazy child, and 25 1/4in long!  She's gaining though, and think she's gained at least a lb in the last 2 weeks. Shes been eating like crazy!  Not spitting up as much either!

Both babies were great for their apt!  I was crazy and took them both myself.  Went well though!  I took in 1 car seat and put one in it while the other was getting checked out. Then after the doc left and we were getting ready for the shots, I dressed both babies leaving out their legs and brought in the other car seat.  Caleb went first and did ok til the last shot, and then we broke his heart!  Poor kid!  Emme did amazing, I was expecting her to cry a little more because she had been sensitive the few days before the apt, but she cried very little and then was fine. Caleb was still crying at this point and proceeded to cry til we got in the car to drive home, he then passed out.

I keep saying that the babies are my most challenging kids.  Not just because their twins but because it seems like everything that can happen does happen.  For instance, neither of my older two ever spit up, I laughed then because I rarely used a burp cloth and joked they were a waste of money.  Now, I go through at least 4 a day.  The older two never had trouble with shots, Caleb was miserable for 3 days. The older two were pretty good babies with eating, both twins have/had tummy troubles and were extremely fussy the first few weeks til we changed their bottles, water for their bottles, formula and method of making it.  The older two popped their teeth out without any notice.  Caleb is drenching himself with drool and  had lots of days screaming in pain and we haven't even seen teeth yet.  Sigh, oh well, at least I've had the older two to give me a small perspective that the baby stage only lasts so long!

They are also LOTS of fun!  Caleb is a super happy kid most of the time.  Both babies are very social and don't like to go to sleep though, they might miss something!  Emmerson smiles and anyone who looks at her!  She is a gem!  Really good natured for the most part!  She can roll both ways and recently has started inching her way forward!  Caleb inches his was backwards and is still only rolling belly to back.  He's working on the other way though!

 I think I need a Wyatt and Leah only post next!  Better get on that :)

Life is crazy that's all I can say!

I didn't think twins would be easy, and after they got here, they kind of were.

Then they woke up :)

Now life is filled with crying/feeding/sleeping/playing and that's just me :)

They are 3 months old already!  (almost 4 but whose counting)

Yes, Caleb is really that much larger than Emmerson! At their 2 month weigh in he was almost 13lbs and Em was just over 10.

Emme wasn't really into pictures on this day, Caleb is always ready to smile though!

Oh, wait I guess I tired him out!

Probably my most favorite picture of these two sweet babies right now!

 Amongst other things, these two have been doing this since about 2 months one week

Caleb:
Eat 6oz every three hours
Sleeps at least 8 hours most nights! Has gone up to 12!
Loves to play and be talked too! 
Doesn't like to be put to sleep
Makes sweet cooing noises and some ga's
Laughed for the first time this week!  So cute!

Grabs things when placed in his hands


Emmerson:
East 4.5oz every three hours
Sleeps 10 hours most nights and has also done 12 hours!
Loves is when she is talked to!  HUGE smiles!
Has rolled from tummy to back a few times
Loves to lay on the play mat and talk to the baby in the mirror
Tries to grab things with her hands!
Doesn't like to take naps!
Isn't quite as expressive as her brother but she has such a sweet sweet demeanor!

Overall we're doing well!  We've had some tough days this last week, but we're figuring things out!

Big brother and sister are doing well!  They are doing so well with their new siblings!  Wyatt is so good with both of them!  He's a great helper! He's doing great in school and we just had a great parent teacher conference for him!

Leah is a trip! She is a great helper at home (most of the time) STILL isn't potty trained!  I should have done it before the babies were born. She just isn't interested at all. I think its a power thing right now, she knows she can control it so she's gonna!  She's a lot of fun and loves her "best friend Zoe"

New Year's Resolution

To my recollection I have never made a new year's resolution.

Figured I'd break it so why even make it.

Good thinking right.

This year is the exception.

Just in case you forgot I recently had twins!  I gained about 50lbs.  Not to shabby in my book, considering I had two decent sized babies, two placentas (one of which I'm told was HUGE), blood flow for 2 babies, beginning milk supply, and two amniotic sacs. All told I weighed less with 2 babies than I did when I had Leah!  Yikes!

So here's my new year's resolution.  To fit back in to my wedding dress!  Yep!  That's it!  Big undertaking but according to SparkPeople, I should be able to do it by around June!  I'll take by December, but its nice to know if I work hard it could be possible by June!

Why my wedding dress? Many reasons. That weight was the last time I really remember feeling good about the way I look. I felt amazingly beautiful in it. I thought it was beautiful. My husband tells me it was the sexiest thing he's ever seen me wear. :) tmi? And I would love to do a "trash the dress" of sorts. Nothing crazy but just something simple and fun!  I've got a great photographer to hire!  She's great, if anyone is interested!

Ok, so lets help keep me accountable people!  I will be posting about bringing sexy back

My first smaller goal is to be back to pre-baby weight by the end of March. That's about 25lbs.  I've already lost 1 last week so its a start. If I lose it all I'll be exactly where I started  year ago!

Ok, here we go!

2 Months

I know I'm a few days late, but hey, I have twin infants!

Luckily, right now they are both napping along with their big sister, and lest I jinx it, I have a few minutes of quiet. 

There is laundry on the floor to be folded, a floor to be vacuumed, dishes to be done, a shower to be taken, beds to make, but I am just taking a quiet moment for myself.  These times are few and far between

So on to the babies.

2 months already!!  So crazy!  I see some things getting easier.  I have finally figured out how to feed them at the same time by myself.  I've found a method that works well for me.  Baby on each side sitting in a boppy, blanket rolled up in front of them and bottle resting on the blanket.  I hold their bottles for the most part, this just makes it easy when I need to burp one of them.  No wrangling to try to prop the bottle up, its just let go and burp.  Works well for me.  Now, if I could just make myself put them on the same schedule.  I do for the most part, but I hate waking them up when their sleeping.  Like right now, I really should be waking up Caleb to eat because his sister ate a while ago, but when their napping so well, I hate to do it! 

Here's and individual twin breakdown.

Caleb:

Holds his head up pretty well
Loves to look at the pictures on the wall
Smiles when you talk to him or smile at him
There's no fussy with him, its either happy or screaming. 0-angry right away
Isn't sleeping through the night and not really giving me a super long stretch.  6 hours has been his max
Likes the bouncy seat as his toy of choice
Loves his brother and sister! 
Eating 5oz about every 3 hours
Loves tummy time

Emmerson:

Getting better at holding her head up. Still pretty wobbly but getting stronger all the time
Also loves the pictures
Loves to watch tv
Great smiler!  Beat her brother to the punch for first smile!
Sleeps through the night!  Last night was from 8-5!  Yep!  Love her :)
Is content most of the time and only really gets crying when she's hungry
Loves the swing, the bouncy seat and the play mat.
Loves her brother and sister!
Eats 4oz every three hours
Hates tummy time! 

Any advice on scheduling would be helpful!  I know Eat, wake, sleep. Just really how strict should I be?!? Or do I stick with what I'm doing?

A Whole New Meaning

It's amazing as you grow up how your perspective on life changes. 

Some things have less meaning.

Some have much much more.

You realize what's important in life!

For me another perspective changed yesterday. 

Growing up my youth pastor and his wife meant a lot to me!  Before I was even in youth group they were my neighbors and I was over there every day. They say I was there more than I was at home!  I have even been honored to be called their eldest child at times! 

So, when on a trip home from a camp one winter, her water broke far to soon and their sweet baby was called home to heaven, I was upset and even cried. But now, after having children of my own, and knowing people who have had great losses in their life, I realized really the significance of what happened! 

I realized that they probably think of their sweet Annie all the time! Long to hold her, kiss her sweet face, watch her sleep.  You never get over the loss of a child, or a miscarriage, or an inability to get pregnant, or many other hurts.  Time may heal the sting and allow the ability to move on, but these things are never forgotten! Nor should they be. They make us who we are!

Yesterday would have been Annie's 21st birthday!  I can't wait to meet her one day in heaven and tell her what amazing parents she had!
