They're here!!

This past Wednesday was met with excitement and trepidation! 

We arrived at the hospital at 9:30am and were taken right up to periop for prep for the surgery.  I can't say I wasn't nervous, but I think I was more excited and ready to be done being pregnant!   We were met by our sweet nurse who took us back to our room and got us ready!  We didn't have long to wait, the surgery was scheduled for 11:30am and there was a lot to do before then.  We got pushed back a half hour at some point, and since they had already started pumping me full of fluids I needed to use the restroom.  My nurse had stepped out and the nurse that came in amazingly was our labor and delivery nurse from when we had Leah!  We LOVED her in our past delivery!  She was awesome so we were so excited to see her! She said we looked familiar but she's helped with probably thousands (ok or hundreds) of deliveries in the last couple of years so I'm sure the faces blurr together.  She ended up being in the surgery and then we had her for our post op!  She again was amazing.  But, I'm getting ahead or myself.

We were taken to surgery just before noon and the part I was scared most of was right in front of me....the spinal!  But I bucked it up and clenched my fists and was plesantly surprised that it wasn't really that big of a deal1  Yay!!  Man, those things work fast!  The first sensation was nice, because my feet had been freezing and were instantly warm :)  Its funny the things you take note of!  Ok all draped and prepped and

at 12:09 Chris was ushered in and

at 12:11pm Caleb Jeffery joined the world and

at 12:12pm Emmerson Rose brought us her sweet presence!

What amazing moments!  Very different than delivering naturally, but still amazing none the less! 

Caleb screamed and screamed and screamed while he was being weighed in at 6# 13oz and measured at 20" long

Emmerson also cried and cried while she weighed in at 5# 14oz and measuring 19" long!

At times we were laughing because they seemed to be competing with eachother!

Both were doing great at first, but Caleb started having some trouble breathing before the surgery was done they decided he was going to go to the NICU for observation for a bit.  Thankfully my surgery was completed before he was taken away and I was able to hold him for a few minutes.  Not nearly long enough, but at least I could see him!  Incidentally, I didn't get to see him again until after 8 that evening.

Emmy, in all her tiny goodness was doing great!  She never had to leave us!  She is perfect!

We were taken back to recovery, where after a bit my dad was able to come in to see us!  So so sweet, seeing our tiny tiny girl in her grandpa's big hands!  Very secure! I was able to call my mom and let her know all was well and they were here!  She was staying with the older two kids so had to wait a bit to come up!  Dad went and subbed her out and she came up to meet her newest grandbaby. 

The Dr. from the NICU came up just before we were taken to postpardem to let us know about our sweet boy!  He had a small, very small pneumothorax and was just having some trouble breathing.  They decided to admit him :( He was doing well, just not well enough. 

The next few hours were met with lots of family and friends all thrilled our sweet blessing were here!!!

There is so much more to add, but for now this will have to do!

T-Minus

Well, since I'm on some form of bedrest now seems like a good time to update.

8 Days.

Unless I go on my own before, my c-section (yes c-section) is scheduled for November 9.  It was supposed to be today because my blood pressure has been high and I have been classified "mild preeclamptic" but the hospital and the dr's from maternal fetal medicine wanted me to wait for the babies. Now, while I understand this is better for the babies, the longer they are inside the better, I am SO ready to be done.  Tomorrow marks 36 weeks and I am HUGE.  The pictures I got taken by my lovely sister were weeks ago....like I think at least a month ago so you see how big I was then and add a month!  Ugh!  The bedrest has helped because I'm not as up and around as I was before.  This however, is also very frustrating. There are things that need to be done and I cannot do them.  Chris has been fantastic with helping, but there are things only a wife/mom can see and clean how I want them.  But its working out fine and I won't be pregnant for much longer.

Back to the c-section.  Bummer, total bummer. Unless a miracle happens and baby boy decides to turn around I have to have a c-section because he is "very breech" in the words of the dr.  Whatever "very breech" means.  Baby girl is transverse, but her position is irrelevant because he is the "presenting" (first) baby out.  I am a little nervous about the c-section, I've never even had and epidural!  But I am glad to know how this is going to happen.  If I had been able to go naturally, there was the chance I could deliver one vaginally and the other c-section and I DID NOT want that to happen, so now its just decided for us.  I would love for the miracle to happen and just deliver them naturally because I know the recovery would be so much easier, but I am glad we have a plan.  Even though we all know with babies that can change in a second! 

I'm excited to meet these little ones!  We are 99% prepared and as prepared as we need to be, just a few more touches in the nursery and it will be done, but those are not needed to have the babies!

In all the craziness

So I just realized that in all the craziness of life, we have not revealed what were are having to the blog world.

I know, so important right :)

So, just in case you don't know...

We are having a boy and a girl!!

Right now they are sitting pretty at 4lbs each with 7 weeks left to go.  Yes, 8lbs of baby already in the belly, and 7 weeks left to go so needless to say, I would be very happy if they decided to come early...not too early obviously, I want them to be healthy. But, a good 35, 36 weekers would be welcome! 

Right now we are busy trying to get the nursery ready and finishing up some stuff on the house so we do need a bit of time, but I'm getting very uncomfortable and I am ready to meet them!!

Thankful

I have been terrible about getting pictures off my phone and camera! One day soon you will all get to see our smiling faces again!

Since my last post was such a downer I thought I would take a moment to tell you a few things in the past few months I have been SO thankful for! (in no particular order)

#1 Our house!

We have waited for so long for God to provide this for us!  Three years of living in my parents basement about 3 months of looking at about 30-40 houses...I lost track! This is exactly what we needed for our expanding family. Its taken a lot of work (more than I expected) but it feels so amazing to have found this great house and now be in it!

#2 Our expanding family

It freaks me out, but I am so glad that God is blessing us with two more precious children!  9 weeks and counting. Boy, we've got a lot to do to get ready! (I started this post over a week ago and got interrupted because the kids were being awful!...funny but I'm still thankful for them, horribleness and all)

#3 My kitchen

Seriously, one of the most challenging parts of living in the basement was that I had really one small counter to work on.  Got. Old. Fast.  I am so thankful for my stove, oven, pantry, fridge, more than 4 cabinets, dishwasher, microwave, etc, etc.  Even though I can't run my microwave for more than a minute without it overheating the circuit...I'm still thankful. All part of the joys of homeownership huh!

#4 My parents

For letting us live with them for the last 3 years! Which enabled us to get out of debt!  We still have Chris' school loans, but we are out of "bad" debt, which if we hadn't lived with them so long we would still be in debt.  SO THANKFUL!

#5 My Heavenly Father (last but in no way least)

Seriously, how do we think we can do it without HIM?!? He has taken us on quite a journey in the  7 years Chris and I have been married! What a great ride! Learning, growing, loving!  I am so thankful for all He has done for us! 

There are many many more things I'm thankful for, but this sums up a great bit of it!!
