What a year

I am not even going to try to say that better blogging (or any blogging) is a resolution for me this next year.  Cuz if this next year is anything like the last I will not have any time/energy/mental capacity to write a blog post!

That being said, maybe I will do better!

This year has been crazy!   These two are most of the "problem"

You see, they have decided that their mom and dad don't need to sleep!

Ever!

Or, to be fair, only occasionally!

They are crazy and I am not exaggerating when I say I think I've slept all through the night maybe 10 times since they were 6 months old!  Two babies teething, two babies sick, two babies with sleep issues!  I have even broken the cardinal rule of feeding them in the night because I was almost literally losing my mind!  So this last year is a blur. My house is a mess and at times I am a mess but hopefully 2013 is looking up.  My mom assures me they will eventually sleep through the night more regularly again some day, but I have my doubts! Ha ha!  They are both thriving!  Both walked before they were one and amaze me every day how they learn and grow!!

This one has started the 1st grade (half way through to be perfectly honest)

He's doing great!  Has the same teacher he had for Kindergarten and she is awesome!  I'm not sure when he decided he could get this grown up and it really needs to slow down!  He is 6 so therefore struggles to pay attention but he is picking things up and it stops me in my tracks whenever he reads something!  I love to watch him learn! He is TONS of fun!!

This one has been a trooper this year! But at least she doesn't look any worse for the wear!

 Seriously!  This photo shoot melted my heart like she does almost daily!  Poor thing has had to practically raise herself this year, especially the first few months of the year because I was so non functioning!  She has become a wonderful little girl!  Challenging at times (read potty training) but so sweet and silly!  We are just so in love with her and her crazy, loving, sassy spirit!!

God has really blessed us!  This year has been a great challenge for me but I have learned to lean on the Lord more than I ever have before!  Literally for strength to get through the day (or hour)!  I am so thankful for the good and for the bad!  I wouldn't be the person I am today if I had not learned anything or been challenged in any way!  God is good! All the time!

Post Baby Weight Loss

Let's just talk about this for a second.  You know those people who have a baby and walk out of the hospital not looking like it, or those people who have a baby and a weeks later you can't tell.  Yeah, I'm not one of those people, I hate those people (not really, just ticks me off!)

I never lost all my weight from having my first baby, mostly because I was lazy.  After I had my second I was just "fat" sorry if you don't like that word, but its the truth and it was the one thing that got me moving!  I had a series of events that happened that made me disgusted with myself, they are much too humiliating for me to post on here, but they were totally enough to get me moving!  So, as you know form this blog I started running!  I also stopped eating sugar.  Like hard core, no sugar if it was listed in the first 3 ingredients on a label!  I lost 20lbs, I still had quite a bit to go though!  I sat at that weight for quite some time despite training for a half marathon that had me burning enough calories to lose 2lbs a week and still nothing!  SUPER frustrating.  I however wasn't really watching what I was eating.  So, I enlisted the help of my new friend! We had just started to get to be friends and she was perfect for me because I was still getting to know her and didn't want to have to tell her I ate crap!  She is super honest on her blog about her weight loss, so she was perfect for me!  I lost 22 more lbs!  This brought me back to almost where I was after having my first baby!  (almost) Unfortunately, I had gained weight before having him so I still needed at least 20 more lbs before I wanted to have another baby. 

God had other plans. You know that phrase, we plan, God laughs. Yeah that was us!  We all know I got pregnant with the twins far faster than we were hoping!  Surprise!  No more losing that last 20lbs. I was determined not to go crazy and gain 80lbs for these kids and did what I thought was great and only gained 50 (which put me lighter than I was when I had baby #2) I lost 30 right away after they were born, which was amazing, but that was the holiday season and I did not feel like dieting again, so I gained 10lbs back.  Dumb! 

So here were are again. I started running again at 6 weeks 2 days, but didn't start strictly with the food until 3mos. Its been SUPER  slow. I've only lost 7lbs but I know I'll get there!  Its gonna be a lot of work!!! To get there I have had to workout 6 days a week and really watch what I eat!  Which stinks! 

So, that's enough of the babble!  I hear babies crying!  And I need to go run with my friend! 

All you baby poppers who lose that weight right away with no effort.  Count yourselves blessed and eat a donut for us ;)

6 Months

In all honestly, they are almost 7 months, but these pictures were taken on their 6 mo birthday!  Half a year already!  It is going WAY fast!!  For me the days are LONG but the time is flying!  Love these sweet faces!!

He is a super sweet boy! He's one of those, when he's good he's very very good and when he's bad he's horrid, kind of boys!  But most of the time he is just super precious and I just want to eat him up! He's pretty close to sitting up and is getting up on all 4's and rocking back and forth!  We'll have a crawler soon!  He is army crawling in the right direction. This picture is when he just moved backwards!

He cut his bottom two teeth and the beginning of the month so he has just been a drool monster ( as you can see in the pic above!) He is eating food finally! Neither he nor his sister were interested for a while and that was super frustrating!  But he loves it now!  He had his first ear infection this last month and it took two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it!  Poor kid!  He's had a rough month!

She's our tiny little bug!  Such a happy happy girl!  She also got 2 teeth this month and did it without any fanfare, all the sudden they were there!  She's arming crawling ALL OVER THE PLACE! Getting into everything and loves to try to get peoples shoes!  Seriously, she can be surrounded by toys and she will bypass them all and go for the shoe's nearest!  She's a riot!   She has no interest in food!  She literally spits every time I put it in her mouth!  Sigh. Right now she is sick for the first time, fever, stuffy nose and very irritable!  Poor little girl.  They both had shots yesterday. That is the last time I let them get shots while already not feeling good.  She cried for a good 1.5 hours yesterday afternoon!  Fun!

We had such a great day!  Every time I asked her what kind of party she wanted she just said a pink party! So that was a pretty easy theme to pull off! 

We even asked everyone who came to wear pink!

5 months

Well, hello there blog, I had forgotten I had you :)

Crazy life around here. I should do a day in the life someday, then you will have a small glimpse into my crazy world.

We're growing around here!  The babies are 5 1/2 months!  Holy Cow!  The days may take forever around here but the weeks and months are flying!  I still have many many days of being very overwhelmed but its getting better!  God has really been getting me through!  Just when I think I can't take it any more He quiets one baby or sends someone along to help!  I really could not be doing this without Him!

At the babies 4 mo appointment (which was the at the end of April, so they were closer to 5mo then 4) Caleb was 16.8 lbs, which is actually only the 75%, surprising He was 26 1/2in long (90%).  Emmerson was 12lbs 4oz, which is in the 10% (I think) Crazy child, and 25 1/4in long!  She's gaining though, and think she's gained at least a lb in the last 2 weeks. Shes been eating like crazy!  Not spitting up as much either!

Both babies were great for their apt!  I was crazy and took them both myself.  Went well though!  I took in 1 car seat and put one in it while the other was getting checked out. Then after the doc left and we were getting ready for the shots, I dressed both babies leaving out their legs and brought in the other car seat.  Caleb went first and did ok til the last shot, and then we broke his heart!  Poor kid!  Emme did amazing, I was expecting her to cry a little more because she had been sensitive the few days before the apt, but she cried very little and then was fine. Caleb was still crying at this point and proceeded to cry til we got in the car to drive home, he then passed out.

I keep saying that the babies are my most challenging kids.  Not just because their twins but because it seems like everything that can happen does happen.  For instance, neither of my older two ever spit up, I laughed then because I rarely used a burp cloth and joked they were a waste of money.  Now, I go through at least 4 a day.  The older two never had trouble with shots, Caleb was miserable for 3 days. The older two were pretty good babies with eating, both twins have/had tummy troubles and were extremely fussy the first few weeks til we changed their bottles, water for their bottles, formula and method of making it.  The older two popped their teeth out without any notice.  Caleb is drenching himself with drool and  had lots of days screaming in pain and we haven't even seen teeth yet.  Sigh, oh well, at least I've had the older two to give me a small perspective that the baby stage only lasts so long!

They are also LOTS of fun!  Caleb is a super happy kid most of the time.  Both babies are very social and don't like to go to sleep though, they might miss something!  Emmerson smiles and anyone who looks at her!  She is a gem!  Really good natured for the most part!  She can roll both ways and recently has started inching her way forward!  Caleb inches his was backwards and is still only rolling belly to back.  He's working on the other way though!

Ok, enough talk, if you've even read this far...here's the good stuff :)

 I think I need a Wyatt and Leah only post next!  Better get on that :)
